Dear Newborns in Need:
“I was so excited when I was finally able to track down where little Callie's first dress had come from! As I told you, we had known from 20 weeks of pregnancy that Callie was not expected to live. We had gone to the hospital with little outfits for her and even had a hand knitted bonnet we had specially ordered. It had always been a dream of mine to dress up my sweet little girl. Callie was, and will always be, the first little girl I was blessed to have.
When she was born, Callie was absolutely beautiful - all 3 pounds, 6 ounces of her! We were so blessed that she lived for eight minutes after birth - it was a true miracle for us. Every heartbeat through the entire pregnancy was a gift from our Father in Heaven. We were blessed to hold her, bathe her, love her. Each of my little boys were blessed to come to the hospital with "Grandma Tina" and sing to Callie. One sang, "I love to see the temple" and the other sang, "I am a child of God." Each part of her birth and death was a miracle and beautiful experience.
Callie Ann
Your part in the miracle was that our little Callie was much smaller than the clothes we had brought. Just at the time it was needed, we were blessed to have the nurses bring in two little outfits in ziplock bags. The first one, a beautiful white dress with a pink lace bow, fit beautifully. Our Callie looked like a little angel. I had the dream of dressing my first little girl in a beautiful dress and holding her close to my heart.
I know you know what that means to me. Many mothers love and save their daughter's baptismal dress or wedding dress. While I will not have those things in this life, I did get to cuddle my Callie in her very first white dress - and that dress was provided by you. I will save it forever, until I see her again.
I love and appreciate all you do.
Thank you! With love, Michele
