Baby Rhia was born at 22 weeks weighing 1 pound 9 ounces via an emergency ceasarian section due to complications.

Hi everyone from England,

I'll have to update you all on what has been happening. Rhia finally came home. Rhia is ill at the moment with brochilitus and we are having to use a portable nebuliser at home to help her with her breathing.

Since Rhia came home I have not felt very well so I eventually got my doc to do something about it and she sent me to a rheumatologist who diagnosed Hughes syndrome, this is a variant of lupus and the blood clots in the placenta causing miscarriage or premature labor. I have just had a bunch of tests on my brain to find out why I keep losing my balance and I get the most awful headaches. I get the results next week so that should be fun.

I saw the chief executive of the hospital last week and had a go at him about not sending you a letter of thanks, he is personally coming round to my house next week to film me and my husband for a bereavement video for staff training.

I have had my work cut out these last few months. I have secured a special delivery room within the hospital for mothers who are giving birth to babies that have already passed away or who will pass away shortly after birth. This room will be soundproofed so you cannot hear other babies crying. It will also have proper quilts and pillow and curtains and be a safe and welcoming place. I have also arranged that all miscarriages under 12 weeks be offered to the parents so they can have their own private burial. What it is, is here we have a policy to not release the bodies of babies born under 19 weeks and I thought this unfair so it has been changed, I am also arranging with the local cemetery that we have a special garden where theses babies can be buried.

I have attached a photo of madam as she is now at 7 months (3 1/2 corrected) she is such a character now and has really proved the doctors wrong, she has no brain damage, no motor problems really no problems at all.

All my love,
Mel
