An Angel Came ....
The unexpected loss of a baby can devastate lives in an instant. The hopes of a future life disappears. Nothing is more tragic, more heartbreaking. Every day parents are faced with the loss or pending loss of a tiny life, too small to wear the clothes waiting in the closet or perhaps too small even to dress. So surrounded by the shock and grief, the families are often too overwhelmed to know what to do next.
Through the loving hands of unseen volunteers, tiny gowns and sleepers are available just the perfect size for tiny babies. Handmade afghans frame the precious still babies cuddled in a parent’s arms. Tiny precious bracelets are just the right size for little wrists. Finely hemmed hankies catch mothers’ tears. Fluffy soft stuffed toys are nestled inside the blankets. Handmade fabric envelopes or boxes nearby are collecting memories of little ones whose lives are all too short.
After leaving the hospital, families need a place to share, to reach out to other families who have experienced a life too fragile to continue. Sophie’s Place welcomes these mothers and fathers. Sophie’s Place, named after a little girl who lives in our hearts, is Newborns in Need’s newest message board and is a place to grieve, post your thoughts and hopefully find inner peace and comfort. It is our sincere hope that you find a warm and inviting circle to help you find peace as you continue your journey forward.
