Trifold Keepsake Folder

2 coordinating fabrics - measure 14” x 36” (one MAIN fabric and one LINING fabric)
1 lining fabric - measure 10” by 36” - for large pocket
1 lining fabrc - measure 4” by 4” - for small pocket
1 piece batting -- measure 14” x 36”
two 12 inch pieces of ribbon 1” wide in coordinating color

note: use 1/2 inch seams

A. Hem one 36” side of pocket fabric by turning under 1/4”, then turning under 1”. top stitch in place.
B. Hem one long edge of small pocket by turning under 1/2”, top stitch in place. Turn under two short sides and other long side 1/4” and press.
C. Please small pocket right side up on right side of large pocket 3” from left edge, 3” from bottom. Top stitch two short sides and long (bottom) side of pocket.
D. Place batting on wrong side of MAIN fabric and quilt the pieces together using your choice of quilting techniques.
E. Stack pieces as follows:

  • · 14” x 36” lining fabric right side up
  • · hemmed 10” x 36” pocket right side up, align the raw edges of pocket with the lining fabric
  • · Quilted MAIN fabric, right side down.

F. Sew all around outside edge leaving an opening to turn. Turn and press.
G. Divide the long side (36”) evenly into thirds and stitch across the width of the three pieces. This forms the ‘folds’ of the folder.
H. Fold right side in. Attach 12” piece of ribbon to the center of the fold.
I. Fold left side over. Attach 12” piece of ribbon to center of edge. Make sure to align the ribbons so they can be tied into a bow.
