Meeting Notes from December 11, 2004

President Ruth Hoover opened our meeting with a prayer and a Holiday welcome and thanks to all. We were delighted to have Ruth’s daughter, Lisa Frein, with us for our meeting. Lisa works with the Triangle North Carolina Chapter in Apex (a suburb of Raleigh), which began May 20, 2004.

We received a very special contribution of knitted hats. These hats are from some elementary school children in a knitting class. In addition to the lovely hats they made, each child wrote a “Dear Baby” note to the baby. They are such loving and caring notes! All the kids are concerned about the baby keeping warm, and growing up big and strong. We have made copies of the notes for our scrapbook, and the originals are going with the hats they made for the babies!

Show and Share: Janet Patterson showed a unique quilt made by Judy Weidlich. It is a “Bambi” quilt using a cloth baby book to tell the story in quilt blocks. Judy also made three other quilts for us. Barb Fleming showed diaper bags she had made from vinyl. They came out really nice and sturdy!

We decided to give yarn that we’ve received but is not suitable for babies to a lady on Freecycle who makes items for Hospice patients. It seems only fair since we get so much for NIN from Freecyclers!

Susan Rizzo told us about Steve’s Cookware. They will donate at least 10% to the charity of the purchaser’s choice. We have already benefited from this. If you need any quality cookware, buy it now! The offer is good through January 20. Steve’s Cookware, 8918 Manchester Rd in Brentwood. 314-918-1730
