On the Road

Ann Marie has been busy spreading news of the Greater Newark Chapter of NIN and the work of our wonderful volunteers.

Speaking Engagements:

May 20 – Blessed Sacrament Church  Women’s Group/we received $50.00 from the organization and a personal donation of $25.00 from one of its members.

May 24 – Circle of Faith Utica/Owl Creek Baptist Church – the church is 198 years old and in the process of remodeling – Ann’s first time speaking from a church Sanctuary! Several ladies expressed an interest in knitting, crocheting and sewing for our babies.  Ann has been asked to return in November to receive the completed projects.

June 11 – Members of the Owl Creek Baptist Church Youth Group met with Ann Marie at St. Francis. They had heard of us through the article about Herschel and Helen and their visit to the hospital and of our workroom in Utica.

July 5 – St. John’s United Church of Christ (home church to member Sylvia Yaekle).

Back In His Arms Again

Kambra and Shawn Malone, founders of Back In His Arms Again have seen significant growth in their ministry and therefore have a greater need for burial layettes, Memory envelopes and all the burial items made by our chapter. Recently our chapter donated two boxes of burial layettes in different sizes to the ministry. Ann Marie invited the couple to speak at our August meeting, our 5th Anniversary!

1st Annual Spaghetti Dinner

The K of C of St. Edward’s Church in Granville sponsored a Spaghetti dinner at Sts. Peter and Paul Retreat Center – the profits going for a new commercial stove.  A few of our members volunteered to help. We worked the dessert table and of course, enjoyed a delicious spaghetti dinner.  We received the following “Thank You”

“Good Afternoon Friends,
I just wanted to thank all of you for your support and making that special trip to the retreat center this past Sunday. The spaghetti dinner had 208 people attend. We ended up with $1000 profit. Not bad for our first one! Maybe the word will get out and make it bigger next year.
Thanks again for all of your hard work and your help. I know that both, Mickey and I, appreciated it very much. “

God Bless You All
 Libby

It seems wherever we go, we discover ways we have touched lives.  For example, member, Carol Vasbinder, who volunteers at the Hill n Dale Nursing Home in Mt. Vernon, spoke with the substitute Activities Director and discovered that she had lost a granddaughter and Knox Memorial Hospital provided a burial layette made by one of our members. This is just one more proof of the importance of our ministry to babies.
