CONVENTION BOOK

Carolyn Hearing outdid herself with her talent for photography, journaling and production in putting together the 2008 NIN Convention Book. Those of you who haven’t seen the book can go on the NIN website – the homepage will direct you to the book’s link. It’s really beautiful and a wonderful memento of the Convention. Give it a “look-see”; it’s well worth the time. Thanks for sharing your time and talent, Carolyn.

Jerry Lawson Update

Cathy Wine and Margaret Tubaugh saw Jerry and Joan last weekend. They reported that Jerry is looking good and Joan is taking her role as nurse very seriously. The doctor has released Jerry, and hopefully he and Joan will be able to join us at a meeting in the very near future. They are very appreciative of the prayers, phone calls and cards they have received from their NIN friends.

BABY BURIAL PLOT

Janet McCleery brought pictures of the Angel statue gracing the plot purchased by the Soroptomist Club. The statue, a tiny infant nestled in Angel Wings, is just perfect. Members Jann, Steve and Carol Vasbinder planted a Hosta garden in the area, providing a very peaceful feeling.

Our Chapter recently purchased several small photo books for parents who wish to have pictures of their deceased little ones. The books were donated to Kambra and Shawn Malone of ‘Back in His Arms Again’.

THANKS, ARLINE

We have received several hats from Arline Aukerman. Arline was a neighbor of Herschel and Helen. The hats were made using Herschel’s hat board. The Chapter sent Arline a “Thank You”, signed by those members who were at our meeting.

Largest Baby Shower on the Planet

Ann Marie stated that in May we received 3 boxes of baby items from Gymboree. 49 of the items have been put back for the Baby Shower. Some of the larger size items, including over 50 t-shirts were given to member Janet McCleery for the Head Start kids.  Ann Marie has also sent letters to Owl Creek Baptist Church, Mt. Vernon; Christ Lutheran Church, Hebron and Spring Hill Baptist Church, Granville. She has asked the Churches if they would be interested in partnering with us for the Shower. She invited them to come to our August potluck and help us celebrate our 6th anniversary. At this time we have heard from Spring Hills Baptist Church. We are waiting to hear from the others.

As most of you know, the third and fourth Tuesdays of the month are designated “Workroom days” at Sts. Peter & Paul’s. Cathy Wine and Margaret Tubaugh take the workroom days idea a step further – they go to the Retreat Center every Tuesday and work on projects. This past Tuesday a group from Granville St. Ed’s Church came through while Cathy and Margaret were busy doing “their thing”. The group of men and women were very impressed with our set-up and all the baby items. One lady said that for health reasons, she no longer could sew, but would make a donation. You just never know what the day will bring!!!

PS – Anyone who would like to join Cathy and Margaret are most welcome.
