Welcome New Members

Sadie Smith – found about us from brochure in Needling Yarn in Granville

Bailey Sorton – became interested because members of her mother’s church made 200 preemie hats.  We’re so glad you both chose to join us.

2007 Convention

President Ann Marie reported that the Convention was lovely.  She said that Arletta Jones, President of the Missouri Chapter, had taken parts from each of the past conventions and incorporated them into Convention 2007.

Ann Marie asked some of the members who attended to share what they liked best about the Convention. Nancy Channell said that she liked seeing old friends and catching up on what they have been doing since last year.

Jann and Steve Vasbinder chose to drive to Missouri. They thought the changing countryside was beautiful. Jann liked getting new patterns and putting her own personal stamp on them. They both loved the food.  Jann said that she has been making burial layettes for quite a while, but got re-energized after meeting a young lady who had lost a child.  Listening to the woman gave Jann the kick start she needed to get back into the groove.

Carol Vasbinder brought samples she made from Convention patterns to show members.

Cathy Wine felt the classes were exceptional and it goes without saying that the company was also exceptional.

2008 Convention

As it now stands, we will be hosting the 2008 National Convention.  The dates are April 24, 25 & 26.  Once again the Convention will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Retreat Center.  Since we will only have one year to prepare, the format will be somewhat simple. The entire event will take place at the Center. We are so fortunate that the Toms agreed to once again do all the cooking. Anyone who attended the 2006 Convention can attest to their great culinary talents.  Ann Marie is already making arrangements for some special activities/surprises.

BITS & PIECES

New workroom at Sts. Peter & Paul is ready – we have been given a much larger space, which also offers storage. Come check it out the 3rd and 4th Tuesdays of the month. An open house will take place in June.

Speaking engagements – Ann Marie has been asked to speak to the Women’s group at Blessed Sacrament Church after the 8 a.m. Mass on May 20. She will also speak at Circle of Faith, Utica/Owl Creek Baptist Church 10:30AM May 24. Lunch will be provided.  Anyone who wishes to go is welcome – call Ann Marie.

Spaghetti Dinner sponsored by the K of C will be held at the Retreat Center on May 20, 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. The profits will go toward a new kitchen stove (which we will use during the convention). Help is needed Noon-2:30 p.m. or 2:30-5 p.m.– If interested in helping call Ann Marie OR support the project by coming to the dinner.

10 great knit blankets have been donated by Kara Kosier. Kara creates the blankets on a knitting machine – this is the second batch of blankets she has donated.
