Greater Newark, OH Chapter
November 2007

Welcome New Members

Sue Ritter learned about NIN through word of mouth from several ladies of our chapter- Cathy Wine, Margaret Tubaugh, Lois Scroggins and Janice Schulz. (Thanks gals!) Regina Lyons was helping with a funeral luncheon in our building and came back to see what we were doing – was so impressed, signed on to sew the burial cozies.  We are happy to welcome Sue & Regina, who prefers “Reggie”, to our chapter

Kitchen Shower

Lorinda Sutton and daughter, Abigail, were unable to attend our meeting, so Ann Marie will see that Lorinda receives the basket of kitchen items donated by our members. Hopefully, Lorinda and Abigail will be able to visit at a future date. Thanks to all who helped fill the basket with lots of kitchen necessities.

Oktoberfest a Great Success

The fundraiser sponsored by the Christ Lutheran Church in Heath, OH, for the benefit of our special baby, Logan, brought in $8,000.00 and Thrivent for Lutherans added $6,000.00 to the proceeds. On a sad note, we have been informed that Logan is not doing well – he is suffering from a disease that sometimes happens as a result of transplants and also has cancer. Please, keep him and his family in your prayers.

Cookie Exchange Reminder

Those who wish to participate in the cookie exchange at our December 12 meeting are asked to bring one or two dozen cookies to swap.

November/December Workdays

Members who have taken advantage of the opportunity to come to Sts. Peter & Paul Retreat Center for our monthly workdays know just how much fun it is and what a nice place we have in which to work. Those who have not as yet come to check out the workdays should give it a try. Even though November and December are very busy months, several members have decided to come for workdays on November 20 & 27 and December 18, 9:00AM-3:00PM.
Don’t forget to bring your lunch

October Donations
5 locations/384 Items
Value $2,290.00
8,406 blankets/273 burial Layettes
 2002-07

As stated above, to date our chapter has made 273 burial layettes. We seldom know who receives the layettes, but member Carol Svatora recently met a woman from Granville, OH. When the woman learned Carol was a member of NIN, she told her that after losing a baby, she received two burial outfits from our chapter. She placed one outfit on the baby, removed it and buried the baby in the second outfit. She then had the first layette framed as a loving remembrance of her child. What a great testimony to the need there is for the work that all NIN chapters do.
