GROUP QUILT!

We have been approved to do a group quilt to be auctioned off as a fundraiser. This idea was presented by Joann and she has agreed to put the quilt together for us. What she needs is for everyone to help by making quilt blocks. Finished blocks should be 12 and 1/2 inches square, with no design past the 12 inches square. The 1/2 inch on the outside will be for seaming. The blocks should be all cotton material or a cotton blend. If you would like to do more than one block that’s fine also. Please include your name and address, written on a piece of paper and pinned to the block when you send it, so Joann can keep track of who donated so she can send a list to Peggy for the monthly paper work. We are doing a Red, White & Blue theme for this quilt. Blocks can be painted, embroidered by hand or machine, appliqued, pieced, you can even use crayons on white material, then iron them and that sets the crayon and then wash them in white vinigar, press them again and it will never come out. The blocks will need to be sent to Joann by May 1, 2007 to give her time to put the quilt together by June when we would like to do the auction during one of our summer activities. We will take a picture of the completed quilt for everyone to see.

I awoke and saw that life was Service.

I acted and behold service was Joy.

Volunteer of the Month

February 2007

Dorothy Bode

Dorothy Bode signed up to be a Volunteer in October 2006, but she has been making beautiful crocheted blankets for the babies before that date. Dorothy has been married for 39 years to her husband, Robert. They have two grown children, David and Debbie. Dorothy and her family are members of St. Charles Catholic Church in the Warr Acres / Bethany area. Dorothy enjoys bowling and is a member of a women’s bowling league. She also enjoys spending time with her nieces and attending their sports events and other activities.

Dorothy, we appreciate the time and love that you put into each blanket you crochet for the babies! Thank you and congratulations on being the February 2007 Volunteer of the Month!

From the Fundraising Committee:

This is just a reminder of the on going fundraisers for the Greater Oklahoma
Chapter of Newborns In Need.

1) Recycle First - Send in your empty ink cartridges and old cell phones. Postage
paid envelopes available at the Chapter Office.

2) Magazine Fundraiser - When you buy, renew or extend your favorite magazine
subscriptions on our online store, 40% of each purchase goes back to our cause!
Over 650 magazine titles at up to 85% off the newsstand prices. Buy online 24
hours a day, 7 days a week. Just go to our online magazine store at
www.magfundraising.com/NINGreaterOklahoma

3) Best Choice Labels - If you use Best Choice brand for your everyday items we
would greatly appreciate if you can save the labels from these products and send
them to us. You can save them and send several at a time if you would like. Our
Chapter can save these labels and once we have 1,000 labels saved we can mail
them in to the Best Choice company and they will send us a check. If you go to
this link you can put in your zip code and it will tell you stores in your area
that handle the Best Choice brand,
http://www.awgbrands.com/find_store.php.
Even though the Always Save brand is through the same company, we can not use
the Always Save brand labels, only the Best Choice labels.
