WOW what an amazing Year for Oklahoma. Let’s look back! January 07 we received a wonderful grant from Wal-Mart/Sam’s club for $1000.00. This was just an exciting beginning of unexpected surprises for us here In Oklahoma. We all had forgotten that we submitted for this grant three months earlier. We also received a 4500.oo grant from the Boeing Employees this month. All of it was to go to purchasing Sewing machines and fabric to help us make items at our work meetings, they have helped us immensely. Then along came May/June where we all learned that our former President would be stepping down and I (Amy) would be taking Over the Oklahoma Chapter. All at the same time National Office was making some major changes as well. But we chugged along! July, August, September, October and November were months of CHANGE for all of us as we all learned our jobs with Newborns In Need., and ironed out wrinkles. Also in one those months we received a phone call from the TJX foundation. Yes, More money… They were vary generous and we received Monies from them to purchase pre-made clothing items. Oh the excitement was so overwhelming that we took the Month of December off. Made our deliveries early and then rested! And when I say WE NEEDED it, I am speaking for all of US!! WE NEEDED IT!! We have had an A~M~A~Z~I~N~G 2007. A few Ups and few curves but together we overcame and trudged forward! With all of this looking back it makes me think about all that is to come…….. LOOK OUT 2008 HERE WE COME!! Amy Ford GROK Chapter President |
