President’s Report

We got our application in for the Arizona Federal Credit Union Community Partners Grant.  Hopefully our chapter will be a recipient of their generosity again this year.

We received several thank you letters this month:  Vicki VandenHeuvel, RN in the maternity department at Chandler Regional Hospital, wrote to thank us for donations in December – especially the “…large, red Santa bag! The Christmas items were so appropriate to give out and our families so appreciated them.  The little handmade sweaters and booties were precious, especially with the cool temperatures we had.  Your organization is so generous and we are so thankful.”

Suzanne and Karen, Bereavement Specialists from Banner Desert Hospital, wrote – “We want to thank you for the wonderful donations of layettes on Valentines Day in labor and delivery. The families who received them were delighted! Two mothers had been transported in from Northern AZ and had nothing here for their babies – they (the layettes) were so appreciated.  And, of course, the time and talent you put into the items and cards for our bereavement program could not be more appreciated, either.  You ladies are a blessing to us and all the families you touch in their time of need.”

Judy Fritz, RNC at Phoenix Baptist Hospital, says  “…. our fetal death rate is down, Thank God.”  She said she would contact us when they need more burial layettes. She ended with, “Thank you for your work and kindness.”

THANKS, again, for all you great volunteers – we are constantly awed by your talent and generosity!  You’re the best!

Continuing Needs

We continue to need burp bibs for our newborn and preemie kits – about 150-175 are used every month.  Also needed are soft toys, especially in soft pastel colors.  We have several bright colorful ones on hand. Now that the weather is warming up lightweight receiving blankets and quilts are in demand, too!

Cash donations are always appreciated for postage and purchasing supplies that aren’t donated. Make checks payable to: Newborns in Need Mesa AZ Chapter and contact: www.newbornsinneed.org/mesa

National Newborns in Need Convention

We are looking forward to a report from Marilyn Freeman or Vivian Giumette on “Angels Among Us”, the 7th Annual convention for Newborns in Need Thursday, May 3rd through Saturday, May 5th in Bolivar, Missouri.

Help Newborns in Need via the Internet!

Have you tried this yet? Marcy Gushee learned about a search engine that raises money for charity, www.goodsearch.com. You put in the name of your charity and use it to do all your searches, and the site will donate money to your charity. National Newborns in Need is already registered there.  So happy searching and you will be helping babies in need!
