Thank You to our Wonderful NIN Volunteers

Karen Lee and Suzanne Helzer, Bereavement Services/RTS Coordinators for Banner Desert Medical Center, sent a note thanking all of us for “all the items you sent. You have obviously been working very hard and we appreciate all you do. You have all made a difference in the lives of grieving parents. Thanks for your continued hard work and support.”

The nurses at Chandler Regional Medical Center wrote, “thank you to each of you for the lovely packets, quilts, blankets, layettes and many other helpful pieces that we need. We so appreciate your kindness and your time and talents.”

Steven Schnall, Vice President of Phoenix Children’s Hospital Foundation, thanked us on behalf of the babies and families whose lives are forever impacted in the NICU at PCH…”we would like to express our deepest gratitude to you for Newborns in Need’s generous gift of…(list of donation)… Through the support provided by gifts like yours, Phoenix Children’s offers crucial hope, healing and the very best care to critically ill newborns, giving them every chance for survival and a healthy life. Your generous investment is, literally, the gift of a lifetime for thousands of children and families. Each time you hear a baby laugh or even cry, we hope it will be a joyful reminder of the life-and-death difference your contribution is making in the live of other newborns, at Phoenix Children’s Hospital.”

Diane Bishop, Executive Director at Maricopa Health Center, acknowledged our donation and support, too. “Thank you for your kind and generous support of the infants at Maricopa Medical Center.”

We would like to welcome several new volunteers this month – both individuals and groups. The Special Ed. class at Smith Jr. High School tied 4 quilts for the babies and was happy to do it! Another new volunteer, Cathy Lancaster, shared lots of fabric to be used to make items for NICUs. This mom shared that her twins born in December 2002 were the smallest survivors she knows of born at Banner Desert Medical Center. Kenan was 15.2 ounces and 11.5 inches long. Kira was 1# 8.5 oz. and 12 inches long. Read more about these miracle babies (now almost five years old) at http//clancast1.tripod.com or www.babiesonline.com/babies/c/cathystwins
