Happy New Year! We had another successful year! We are making our regular deliveries of layette sets to 5 area hospitals. We are waiting to here from another local hospital to see if we can be of service to them. We delivered over 7000+ items for the 2007 calendar year. We also celebrated our 6th year as an official chapter of Newborns in Need! We hope 2008 brings everyone much happiness and peace. We continue to deliver preemie layettes, full-term layette sets and sadly, burial layettes. Our hospitals are most appreciative of everything we do. We are trying to work something out with another local hospital to deliver burial layettes, it so sad that there is such a need. We also continue to receive all sorts of donations from monetary to fabric to new & gently used clothing. It seems anytime we really need something it suddenly arrives. We are so thankful for all who have generously donated to the Southern Maryland Chapter. |

Lately… This fall our chapter participated in the Macy’s Shop for a Cause program. We sold “shopping passes”. The passes offer discounts on purchases on one certain day. They sell for $5.00. Then we get to keep all the proceeds. We sold 38 shopping passes and made $190.00 for the Southern MD Chapter. If you have a Macy’s in your area, this was a wonderful way to raise some money without much effort. We have 5 volunteers in our chapter with only 3 that work outside the home and we consider our sale very successful. Also… We just have to share this picture of our Christmas 2007 deliveries. How cute are these?!? We are very grateful to Jeff Beach for his generous donation of the buckets and cellophane wrap. We filled these with Christmas sleepers, blankets, hats and other necessities. Special EVENT Announcement… “Apple Seed” Maternity and Baby Store in Gaithersburg, MD has announced a special weekend long event Friday, April 4 thru Sunday, April 6. They are requesting that their customers donate to Newborns-In-Need.
