Fundraising

Our first fundraiser will be on June 12. Barb Sedmak’s neighborhood is having a community garage sale, and we are going to have the refreshment booth in Barb’s garage!  We need donations of canned Soda, bottled water, and homemade cookies. Please donate if you can: If you can’t get your donation to us, we will do our best to find volunteers to pick it up from you. Joanie works at the Speedway Post office, and lives in Danville: donations can be dropped off at any of these places:

  • Joanie’s house (403 W. Main in Danville: Leave on front porch)
  • Speedway Post Office (put Joanie’s name on it and give it to one of the window clerks)
  • Mary Thomson’s house: (2114 Winton Ave in Speedway: call 244-5068)
  • Barb Sedmak’s house: (call 858-1157 first…see directions below)
  • The sales are going to be in Hunters Cove and Thornburg in Brownsburg. They are off of Airport Road (400 North) just East of 267. Barb’s address is 15 Trotters Run: Turn on Hunter’s Trail off of Airport Road and follow it as it meanders to the back:  Trotters Run is off of a curve at the back of the subdivision: her house is a ranch on the south side of the street with a fire hydrant in the yard. They expect LOTS of garage sales, and hundreds of shoppers, so we need those donations (we need $$!)
  • Congratulations to US!

We are now officially our own chapter: “West Indianapolis” is our official name, and our area is: west of the White River in Marion County, Hendricks County, and (maybe soon) Boone County!

    Your new officers are:

    Joanie Relf:   President
    Mary Hudon:  Vice President
    Cathy Waymire: Secretary
    Mary Ellen Kutcher:  Treasurer
    Donna Baker:   Work Group Coordinator

We pledge to do our very best for God’s tiniest children.

    Round Bobbin Convention

Viking Sewing Machines is donating booth space, plus the use of several sewing machines and sergers to us during the Convention in August.  Our Westside group is responsible for Thursday, August 26. Convention Attendees will be asked to sit and sew on the machines, making items for our babies:  the only thing is that we have to have everything cut out ahead of time! We can also sell any sewing related items, so we are asking everyone to clean out their sewing rooms and donate anything useable and in good shape. (More info in July)

    Newsletter

Last month we mailed 78 newsletters, which cost us close to $30.  PLEASE, if you have e-mail and are receiving this via snail mail, send me your e-mail address ASAP!  Does anyone have any good ideas for financing this?  That $30 would be better used to purchase supplies for our babies.  We were thinking of self-addressed, stamped envelopes: What do you think? Any other ideas?

    June Meeting

We will be making memory quilts and/or patriotic burp cloths, so bring your machine if possible, or fabric scissors if your machine is not portable.

         Newborns in Need

    Extra Credit Item for June
One yard of patriotic flannel for 4th of July Burp Cloths. (Or, if you can’t find flannel, one yard of patriotic quilters cotton, and we will put flannel on the back)

Mary Ellen has decided that we need to “bring back” the door prize and the extra credit item! For you newer volunteers, here’s how it works: Everyone gets one chance at the prize just for showing up, another chance if you bring the extra-credit item, and another chance for every dollar you donate to the yarn fund.
(Sometimes you will know what the prize is, and sometimes it will be a secret!)
