Re: “Largest Baby Shower on the Planet”
As you may know, Newborns in Need (NIN), formed in 1992, is a non-denominational, volunteer, not-for-profit 501(c)3 Christian charity organized to take care of sick and needy babies and their families;
and in cases of crisis to help where help is needed. Formed in 2001, the local Charleston Chapter meets the second Saturday of each month from 9:30 am to noon at the parish hall of St. Thomas Episcopal Church,
1150 East Montague (off Park Circle) in N. Charleston. Through work meetings and volunteer efforts we are able to provide items such as blankets, quilts, burial layettes, clothing, booties, and hats to
premature and newborn infants.
Our volunteers work hard to create clothing that will fit the little ones, as well as knitting, crocheting and sewing blankets and other items to keep them warm. Currently, the Charleston Chapter is
donating to Birthright, Children’s Care Network, East Cooper Community Outreach. Florence Crittenton, Low Country Crisis Pregnancy Center, MUSC NICU and Level I and II Nurseries, Roper Hospital –
Downtown, Roper St. Francis – West Ashley, Trident Medical Center and individuals and other facilities as needed. All items are donated free of charge.
Locally, we are asking for your help in promoting and supporting the “Largest Baby shower on the Planet” in South Carolina by holding a baby shower with your friends at home, at your church
or at your workplace and collecting any of the NEW items on the wish list below. Or you can raise funds and donate a check or gift card (WalMart, Hancock Fabrics, Knit, A.C. Moore or Michaels) to help NEWBORNS
IN NEED purchase fabric and yarn to make blankets and quilts, and purchase needed items which cannot be made, like diapers, formula, baby wipes, lotion, etc.
Wish List:
