All across North Georgia, newborn babies are looking for an angel to watch over them.
Some of these babies are born into less fortunate families and need essential clothing and bedding items to keep them healthy. Many are born several weeks premature and struggle
for each breath of life; some will lose that battle. Parents already grief stricken by their loss, then have the added burden of finding a tiny burial gown to fit their baby.
For all these children and their grieving families, there is Newborns In Need. NIN is a National, all-volunteer, nonprofit organization that works to help alleviate their
suffering. The Sugar Hill, Georgia Chapter of Newborns in Need began in May of 1998. Our chapter makes and donates, free of charge,
Newborn and preemie gowns T-shirts Blankets Quilts Hats Booties Burial gowns and other essential items to Georgia hospitals and medical centers
Our hospitals and medical centers then donate the items to newborns in their care;sending babies well enough to go home with adequate clothing and blankets. Our isolette covers, knitted and crocheted hats,
booties, blankets and specially made shirts help babies survive in the neonatal intensive care units; and our burial layettes ease the suffering of families who have just experienced a loss.
There is a great need for the service Newborns in Need provides. Additional volunteers in Georgia are needed to sew, knit or crochet baby clothing and bedding items. We are also
looking for Instructors to teach beginning through advanced sewing, knitting and crochet classes. See "How To Volunteer".
